Notes from the Editor:
Well another month another newsletter publisher's family is wondering where their spouse is… I am kidding. I always leave the editors notes until the very last thing to write, so here I am, five days past due, still working to complete a HUGE newsletter. I am pretty excited by the vast amount of material in this issue.
I began the issue wanting to do more personal stuff, but my project (the worbles simulation) became overwhelming. I knew going in that I wanted to concentrate on simulation this month. I had hoped to do a step by step as well as the worbles, but that will have to wait. None the less, we had some great material and some extra simulations as a result of a simulation challenge that ran in January as well.
We had some really first rate submissions this month. It may take more than a few minutes to polish this issue off - let me tell you! Alyce has produced another great SpriteByte article in the continuing series - this time synchronizing sound with animation. It is a must read for any serious programmer who wants to use sprites and sounds!
We have a new comer, over from the "other" camp - you may have seen him around the Liberty Basic forums as well. People call him Welopz and he generously offers us two in a series of articles on working with data.
Norman contributes this time with a nice Kaleidoscope and an fun article titled "Confessions Of A Novice Programmer" - a fun read. Gordon has the beginnings of an interesting game concept here implementing a concept of drag and drop sprites. Gordon always leaves us with something to think about!
Keeping with the theme of simulations, I have written a (did I hear lame) article about implementing a society of "worbles" based loosely on the game HAMMURABI. (The original text based source for HAMMURABI can be found in the newsletter files archive. This would be a fun game to convert to Liberty Basic.
We have as a special treat a Game Design Document Template written originally by Chris Taylor and Updated, Web-ified, and packaged by Bil Simser. Bil granted us the privilege to republish this article in the LB Newsletter. Thanks Bill
This issue features several Demo programs, including four simulations from the LB Community. Gordon Sweet is on base with a nice slide show program with optional musical accompaniment. I was really impressed with what David Conner and Stefan Pendl were able to do toward simulating a Hyperlink in Liberty Basic. Check it out!
Please note a couple corrections to earlier articles as well.
Thanks to the ever supportive contributors, readers and the Newsletter publishing staff. A huge gold star goes to the "Most Valuable Player": Janet Terra who works tirelessly behind the scenes to make much of this come off professionally!
Enjoy.

The Liberty BASIC Newsletter encourages all LB programmers to submit articles for publication. Everyone has something valuable to say, from beginners to veteran LBers. Consider sharing a code routine, with explanation. Perhaps you can review a favorite LB website, or program, or coding tool? Why not submit a list of questions that have been nagging at you? How about sharing your favorite algorithm?
